Aleksandr Chichkanov built Pomodoro Focus (shown as Focus Timer on your Home Screen) as a free app. This service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is. This page explains what information the app and this website collect, why, and what happens to it. If you use the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. Your information is used to provide and improve the app, and isn't used or shared with anyone except as described in this policy.
The short version
- There's no account and no sign-up, and the app shows no ads.
- Your focus sessions and categories are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud account. The developer can't see them.
- The app sends usage statistics and crash reports, through the services listed below, to understand how it's used and to fix bugs. They don't include your name or email address.
- Your data is never sold.
Information collection and use
The information you enter in the app, like your sessions, categories and settings, is kept on your device and synced through your iCloud account using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). It isn't collected by the developer.
Usage statistics
To understand which features are used and how the app can be improved, the app records events, such as starting, pausing or finishing a session, together with your settings (like session lengths, the chosen sound and the name of the selected category) and running totals (like the number of sessions and your total focus time). It uses Google Firebase Analytics and Amplitude for this. These services also receive technical information such as the device model, operating system version, app version, country or region, and an identifier for the app installation. They don't receive your name or email address.
Log data and crash reports
When the app has an error, it collects data and information through a third-party product, Sentry, called log data. This log data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when using the service, the time and date of your use of the service, and other statistics.
Notifications
The app's timer notifications are scheduled on your device. The app also uses Firebase Cloud Messaging, which gives your device a token so the developer could send you a notification, such as news about an update. You can turn notifications off at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
Cookies
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. The app doesn't use cookies explicitly. However, it may use third-party code and libraries that use similar technology to collect information and improve their services.
This website uses no cookies. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and doesn't track you across sites.
Service providers
The developer may employ third-party companies and individuals for these reasons:
- to facilitate the service;
- to provide the service on the developer's behalf;
- to perform service-related services; or
- to assist in analyzing how the service is used.
These third parties have access to the information described above only to perform these tasks on the developer's behalf, and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. The providers used today are Apple (iCloud), Google (Firebase Analytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging), Amplitude, Sentry and Cloudflare (this website).
Security
The developer values your trust in providing your information and strives to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and its absolute security can't be guaranteed.
Links to other sites
The app and this website may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by the developer, so please review their privacy policies. The developer has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Children's privacy
The developer doesn't knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. All children are encouraged never to submit any personally identifiable information through the app or its services, and parents and legal guardians are encouraged to monitor their children's internet usage and help enforce this policy. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information, please get in touch. You must also be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries a parent or guardian may do so on your behalf).
Your choices
- Delete sessions and categories in the app at any time, or delete the app to remove everything stored on your device.
- Your iCloud copy lives in your own iCloud account, which you control in your device's Settings.
- To ask about or request deletion of usage data linked to your app installation, email support@chileks.com.

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time, so please review this page periodically. Changes are posted on this page, with the date at the top.
